Getting Started...

Well, when I first decided to do a blog I thought I would start with a post about our road trip down to Texas, featuring pictures and all of the highlights from our trip.  Now that we have been here for almost 3 weeks I have barely made a dent on this and I'm realizing that this is not really the way a blog is supposed to work.  So I've decided to throw out that plan and put updates on here more regularly and when I get around to it I will add pictures and highlights from our trip.  It just takes so long to put all of those pictures on here... but I know that's what you all want to see. :)

So anyway, today is Friday, September 11th and Aaron has been at Lackland Air Force Base since Tuesday.

I dropped him off at a hotel in Dallas on Monday night.  It was definitely hard.  There were people all over the place who were there for the same reason as Aaron.  Most of them seemed to be younger, but not all of them.  Some of them were with their parents, some, like Aaron were with their wives, and some were alone.  It was kind of a strange experience.  Aaron had a curfew of 11pm, but he was so tired from all of the stress of the day that we ended up saying goodbye at around 8:30 (he also had to wake up at 4am).  We drove around to the back of the hotel so that we could talk and pray. (Honestly, we weren't making out.)  After saying our goodbyes and shedding a few tears Aaron went inside.  I got back in the car and cried my eyes out for about 15 minutes before I pulled myself together.  God was definitely with me.  As I drove out of the parking lot I saw another couple alone in a corner of the lot, slow dancing.  It was so sweet, and of course I started crying again... but it reassured me that there would be other guys with Aaron who love their wives and will be missing them too.

I feel fortunate because I was able to talk to Aaron the next day as he was on his way to San Antonio.  It made the day much easier.  The next day, Wednesday I didn't hear from him at all, which was expected.  I didn't think he'd be able to call again until this weekend.  But to my surprise he called yesterday (Thursday).  It was quick, he only really got to tell me his address, ask me how I was, and tell me he loves me.  But I'll take it.  It was good to hear his voice.

If you want to write to him his address is:
AB Cornwall, Aaron M.
322 TRS/FLT 710 (DORM A-9)
PSC 3
1320 Truemper St. Unit 364055
Lackland AFB, TX 78236-5570

I have been doing well so far with being by myself during the day.  I've made a new purse which is on my site: janebags.etsy.com , and I signed up to do weight watchers for the first time.  With phone calls, sewing, e-mails, Facebook, and now point tracking & blogging, I think I will be fine in keeping myself busy and staying in touch.  Not to mention I am home all day with two dogs, who can sometimes make the day interesting, depending on how much they want to get each other barking.  Usually they are pretty good though and I enjoy having them around. :)

In Texas, what else do you do on Friday nights but go to a football game?  Since I have a brother-in-law who is a high school football coach, I already have a team to root for.  That's how we'll be spending our evening tonight, so with that, I better get going! AND it's homecoming!  Woohoo!
